41 students from the 3rd year embarked on a study trip to Brussels with three teachers (Mårten, Joaquim and Ivan) on 8 to 11 April 2024.
The group departed from Arlanda airport early in the morning at 7:00 and arrived in Brussels, happy and enthusiastic to begin their four-day long learning journey.
On the first day, after checking into the hotel, the students had their own time exploring Grand Place and were then brought on an informative two-hour walking tour of the Brussels city in the afternoon. They had remaining time to themselves for the evening to enjoy a nice dinner and do more sightseeing of the beautiful city.
On Tuesday, the students had their own time exploring the city after breakfast, and most of them visited the European Parliament before gathering to go to the European Commission. The school had booked an information visit to the European Commission, where two policy officers gave the group an extensive introduction into the workings of the European Commission. The students were also reminded about the upcoming European Elections and were educated about the importance of voting in the election. The day concluded with a visit to the Experience Europe Centre where students had an interactive learning experience about the European Commission.
On the third day, every student got to visit an interesting museum of their choice, which included Autoworld (national car museum), Museum of Natural Sciences, Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium, Cinquantenaire Art & History Museum, Musical Instrument Museum and others. They were intrigued by the exhibits and when they meet for lunch, they shared their learning experience with one another. After lunch, students have their own free time and many students went to see the Atomium, a popular landmark of Brussels.
Everyone arrived home safely and happily on Thursday. All the students were very satisfied and learnt a great deal, be it travelling without their family, or visiting Brussels for the first time, or taking the city’s public transport, or even trying to navigate themselves in the city, all the students benefitted tremendously from this learning journey. They were satisfied with the smooth planning and implementation of the study trip, and they highly recommend Brussels as the destination for their junior’s study trip next year.
